Kathryn Jean Cummings Randall, 70, died Wednesday, February 20, 2013 surrounded by her devoted soul mate, best friend and husband, Bill and her immediate family. Kathryn was born in Baraboo, WI on September 24, 1942 to Lester and Anna Scully Cummings. She attended St. Joseph's Catholic grade school and graduated from Baraboo High School in 1960. Kathryn pursued a career in Madison, WI with Wisconsin Bell that later became Ameritech/SBC from which she retired in 1994 after 31 years of service having worked in various departments and cities. Prior to her retirement while working full time she attended classes on evening and weekends at the UW in Oshkosh. After her retirement, she also worked as a receptionist for Hornung's Pro Golf for six years in Fond du Lac. Kathryn loved to read, travel, surf the Internet, email her friends, sell on eBay and devoted many years in pursuing her family's genealogy. She married the love of her life; William "Bill" Reed Randall Sr. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Baraboo on August 3, 1963. To this union two children, William "Bill" Reed Jr. and Debra Ann "Debbie" were born. Kathryn was a devoted and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She dearly cherished every moment with her grandchildren. For many years she served as a tutor in the Adult Literacy Program and did much volunteer work throughout her life. She was quick to tell you that she felt it was everyone's duty to give something back to his or her community and to those less fortunate than themselves. She was a member of the Ameritech/SBC/AT&T Telephone Pioneers, and The Fond du Lac, Juneau and Chippewa Counties Genealogical Societies. As a member of the Telephone Pioneers she held office and served in many capacities which included president and treasurer of the Dairyland Council and Club and as president of the state for the Pioneers Wisconsin Chapter Four. As president of the Chapter she attended national conventions in New York City, NY, Nashville, TN, and Dallas, TX. She was most proud of spearheading numerous handicapped accessible projects in the Wisconsin State Parks system which included the first handicapped accessible housing being built, called "Cabin in the Woods" at Mirror Lake State Park in Wisconsin Dells.Kathryn is survived by her husband, William "Bill"; her son, William "Bill" (Christine Shaneyfelt) Randall, Jr., of Eagan, MN, their children, Jacob Cyrus and Sonia Joy; her daughter, Debra "Debbie" (Misael Ruiz Morelos) Randall, also of Eagan, MN, their sons, Benjamin Liam and Jordan Angel. She is further survived by three brothers, James Cummings of North Freedom, WI, Edward (Alice Rott) Cummings of Baraboo and Daniel Cummings of Pewaukee; a sister, Crystal (Paul) Hasheider of Baraboo; many nieces and nephews. She is further survived by sisters-in-law, Marjorie Randall Andersen of Surfside Beach, SC and Elaine Fulton Randall of Edgerton, WI and their families. Preceding her in death were her parents, Lester and Anna (Scully) Cummings and her sister-in-law, Marian Randall Veum and brothers-in-law, Homer Randall, John Veum, and Bill Ryan.
Visitation for Kathryn Jean Cummings Randall will be on Sunday, February 24, 2013, from 1 to 4 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Liturgy of the Word for Christian Burial services will be at 4 PM at the funeral home on Sunday. Deacon Ricardo Munoz will officiate. Cremation will follow.
