Keith James "Sclick" Schlicher

March 14, 1951 — June 25, 2022

March 14, 1951 was a very special day for James & Darlene Schlicher welcomed their baby boy into the world. He developed into a kind-hearted person with his own unique personality. He loved to argue his own point of view and didn’t take any bullshit from anyone. He started his own landscaping company, “Keith’s Landscape” on a shoestring budget working out of his small rental car. He loved to be in charge and didn’t accept any shoddy work. He went to flea markets to buy and sell and could sell anything to anybody. In his younger years he was very athletic in horseshoes, baseball, and bowling, which he excelled in all three.

Keith’s spare time was spent in his boat on Lake Winnebago catching fish. He always seemed to catch them while others went home empty-handed. Keith did some evangelism door to door with brother-in-law, Bob for a couple of years. On September 16, 1978 he married Barbara Jakowski and they were together for over 40 years. With declining health, he used a scooter to get around and his wife became his caregiver. He became very frustrated because of his limited ability to do the things he wanted to do. He went so fast with his scooter that he would frequently run over the dogs and Barbara’s feet.

Being weak, tired and in constant pain he asked God to take him. God answered his prayers Monday, June 25, 2022. He is at peace and is no longer suffering. He got his wish to die at home. Just imagine him fishing in the lakes of heaven. He wanted a direct cremation with no service, which he got.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; sisters, Jean (Bob) Halfman, Patti Schlicher and her two children, Cory and Corissa; and brother, Kurt. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and some cousins.

Keith’s favorite saying was “Do it my way,” by Frank Sinatra and that’s how he lived his life.

Sleep well - we all love and miss you.

Fisherman’s Prayer

I pray that I may live to fish…

Until my dying day.

And when it comes to my last cast,

I then most humbly pray:

When in the Lord’s great landing net,

And peacefully asleep,

That in His mercy I be judged

Big enough to keep.

In loving memory of Keith Schlicher
