Kenneth Alan Stormo, age 75, of Fond du Lac, WI passed into eternal life at Hospice Home of Hope on May 17, 2013. He was born April 29, 1938 in Deadwood, South Dakota, to Kenneth A. and Leone C. Chenoweth Stormo. On May 20, 1965 he was united in marriage to Sharon Holwerda in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Alan Stormo graduated from Lead High School, the University of South Dakota, and the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. At Denver General Hospital, he completed a rotating medical internship, a residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, and a fellowship in Forensic Pathology. He was certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology and Forensic Pathology. He was licensed to practice medicine in Colorado, Nebraska and Wisconsin. He served in the United States Army as a pathologist at Brooke General Hospital, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He also served as pathologist at Denver General Hospital, St. Agnes Hospital, Berlin Memorial Hospital, Waupun Memorial Hospital, and Consultants Laboratory of Wisconsin, Inc. He was elected to serve as Fond du Lac County Coroner for six years. Dr. Stormo served as Assistant Medical Examiner for Milwaukee County, and then Interim Medical Examiner for Milwaukee County until his retirement in 2008. He was a member of the Fond du Lac County Medical Society and the Wisconsin Society of Pathologists, and served as president of those organizations. He was also a member of the Milwaukee County Medical Society, the State Medical Society of Wisconsin, the American Medical Association, the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, the College of American Pathologists, the National Association of Medical Examiners, the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and the Wisconsin Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners. Dr. Stormo was a member of Grace Reformed Church, and served as elder and deacon.Alan is survived by his wife, Sharon, his sons and daughters and their spouses, and grandchildren: Kristin (Todd) Eckhart (Nathan, Adam, Tyler, Hayden), Brookfield, WI; Tanya (Joel) Stormo Rasmussen (Krister, Phineas, Eli), Oxford, England; Jeffrey (Laura) Stormo (Soren, Anders), Caledonia, MI; Brendan Stormo, Fond du Lac, WI; Paige (James) Lemmenes (Andrew, Grace, Julia, Josiah), Elm Grove, WI; Elissa (Erin) Stormo Hoffmann (William, Annaliese), Grand Rapids, MI; Gabrielle (Nicolaus) Stormo Malnick (Asher, Audrey), Chicago, IL; Lesley-Anne (Jon) Stormo Moen, Spokane, WA. He is also survived by one brother, Gary (Bonnie) Stormo, Rapid City, SD; and brother-in-law William J. Holwerda, Hastings, MI. He is further survived by nephews and nieces, other relatives and many friends. His parents preceded him in death.
Funeral services for K. Alan Stormo will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at Grace Reformed Church, 163 E. 18th Street, Fond du Lac, WI. The Rev. Barry Vegter, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Rienzi Cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcome at Grace Reformed Church on Tuesday, May 21 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., and on May 22, from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of services. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
