Keryl J. (Huls) Hinke, age 85, of Fond du Lac, died Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at St. Agnes Hospital. She was born on May 17, 1929 in Stanley, WI, the daughter of Sylvester M. and Laura A. (Theirl) Huls. She attended St. Anne’s Catholic Grade School and Stanley High School, graduating in 1947 as Class Salutatorian. Keryl was also junior and senior editor of the school paper. Keryl attended the Minnesota School of Business in the Twin Cities and was employed by Northwest Airlines main office in St. Paul, MN, which enabled her to do extensive traveling throughout the U.S. and also a trip to Alaska and Japan.
On June 13, 1953 she married Don Hinke at St. Anne’s Church in Stanley where Keryl was also an assistant organist. Don’s career in home building took them from Stanley to Louisville, KY, Port Washington, WI, Little Rock, AR, Toledo, OH, and then to Fond du Lac in 1967. Keryl was a stay at home mom until 1970. She went back to work as a part time cashier at Lauer’s Food Mart on Johnson St. She then went on to work at Lauer’s on Fond du Lac Ave. as head cashier until she retired in 1997.
SURVIVORS: three sons, Craig (Diane) Hinke of Fond du Lac, Brad (Jackie) Hinke of Pleasanton, CA, and Scott (Lisa) Hinke of Waukesha, WI; two daughters, Renee (Mike) Hanlon of Fond du Lac, and Kerri (Steve) Ulry of Green Bay, WI; grandchildren, Tara (Michael) Trager, Megan (Ryan) DeGeorge, and Kyle Hinke, Nathan Hinke, Pete Frank, and Leah (Nathan) Fernandez, Jordan and Zachary Hinke, Eric and Alyssa Ulry; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Remy, Reagan and Sydney; one brother, Tom (Phyllis) Huls of Allen Park, MI; two sisters, Peggy Kot of Lakeville, MN, Janie (Len) Bertagnolli of Parker, CO; brothers in law, Rick Kukac of Orland Park, IL, Marv (Helen) Hinke of Jupiter, FL, and Paul Guthrie of Brillion, WI, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband Don on June 15, 2010; sister, Diane Kukac; her brother and his wife, Dick (Shirley) Huls; grandson, Ryan Hinke; brother in law, Ray Kot.
VISITATION: Sunday, February 15, 2015 from 3-6 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. FUNERAL: A Liturgy of the Word Service will take place at 6:00 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Burial will take place on Monday at 11:00 A.M. at St. Charles Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials received will be donated to American Cancer Society/Relay for Life.
