Lavern L. Sabel

LaVern L. Sabel, age 90, of Fond du Lac, died Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Crossroads Nursing Home, Fond du Lac. She was born on March 31, 1927, in Dodge County, the daughter of Robert and Hannah (Schlueter) Smith. On April 19, 1947, she married Eugene J. Sabel at St. Mary’s Church in Fond du Lac. He preceded her in death on September 23, 1983. LaVern was a longtime Eagles Auxiliary member and enjoyed bowling, polka music, dancing, golfing, spending time with family and taking care of her grandchildren. She was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and an Elvis Presley fan and also enjoyed having cocktails.



Survivors include three children, Lynne Sabel of Fond du Lac, David (Lorna Luehring) Sabel of Fond du Lac, Jean Manowske of Fond du Lac; four grandchildren, Amy (Douglas) Rock of Plano, TX, Morgan Manowske of Orlando, FL, Matti Cardinal of Fond du Lac, Mitchel Cardinal of Fond du Lac; three great-grandchildren, Korri Kopsi of Austin, TX, Willow and Tallon Rock of Plano, TX; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eugene; two brothers; four sisters.



Special thanks to the family of Galen Comeaux for embracing LaVern as part of their family for so many years.



Visitation will take place on Saturday, January 6, 2018, from 1-4 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. Burial will take place on Monday at Ledgeview Memorial Park.
