Laverne A. Flanders

LaVerne A. Flanders, 82, of Fond du Lac and a former resident of Vicksburg, MI, died Sunday, November 27, 2011 at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home. She was born January 30, 1929 in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Lester and Elizabeth Thurk DuFrane. LaVerne graduated from St. Mary Springs Academy in 1947. On May 7, 1955 she married Donald R. Flanders at St. Joeseph's Catholic Church. She was a member of Holy Family Parish. LaVerne worked for Wells Manufacturing for 20 years retiring in 1981. She was an active member of St. Martin of Tours and a member of the Lioness Club while living in Vicksburg, MI. She was also a former member of the Lady Elks Club in Fond du Lac. LaVerne enjoyed reading, playing bridge and sheepshead, bowling, shopping, doing crossword puzzles, and loved spending time with her grandchildren.SURVIVORS: her husband, Donald; four children, Mary Claire (Pete) Runde, Fond du Lac, Thomas (Lisa) Flanders, Shanghai, China, Laura (Randy) Vadnais, Fond du Lac, Mark (Darla) Flanders, Eden Prairie, MN; 10 grandchildren, Elizabeth (Carcheri Gingrasso) Konen, Alexander Konen, Jonathan (Kristin) Konen, Jessica Flanders, Sarah Flanders, Cadon Merchant, Amy (Nicholas Schneider) Vadnais, Brandon Flanders, Christian Flanders, Andrew Flanders. She is further survived by a brother, Robert (Pat) DuFrane, Fond du Lac; brother-in-law, Linus Doll, Fond du Lac; sister-in-law, Dorothy Flanders, Fond du Lac; special friend, Jean Northrup, Vicksburg, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ruth Doll; brother-in-law, William Flanders; sister-in-law, Cheryl (Wilbert) Schwark.



VISITATION: will be from 4:30 "“ 6:30 PM on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Holy Family Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 6:30 PM on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at Holy Family Church, 271 4th Street Way, Fond du Lac. Inurnment will be held in Rienzi Cemetery at a later date.In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established in LaVerne's name.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
