LaVerne "Vern" Haberkamp

LaVerne “Vern” Haberkamp, 96, of Fond du Lac, WI, and formerly of West Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Hospice Home of Hope, Fond du Lac, WI. Vern was born on August 7, 1927, in Bensenville, IL, the son of William and Mary (Theis) Haberkamp. On September 24, 1949, Vern married Rose Marie Koller in Winfield, IL. Vern served in the U.S. Navy as a seaman from 1945 – 1946. He worked for Northern Illinois Gas Company as a mechanic and technician. Vern was a “jack of all trades,” who enjoyed woodworking, carving, building, wildlife, gardening, and traveling with family. 

Vern will be missed by his daughter, Patricia Ann Majerus and son-in-law, Howard William Majerus of Fond du Lac; and many family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary; wife, Rose; and their schnauzer, Max. 

At Vern’s request, no services will take place. Cremation has taken place with burial to follow at Assumption Cemetary, Wheaton, IL. 

Memorials in Vern’s name can be made to the Guiding Eyes for the Blind.
