Lawrence L. Wirtz, age 81, of Fond du Lac, died Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at St. Francis Home. He was born on October 2, 1936, in Fond du Lac, the son of Alois and Olivia (Morgan) Wirtz. On June 7, 1958 he married Jeanette M. “Marty” Martin. Lawrence farmed for many years in the St. Peter area. He also worked for Wirtz Brothers Construction until the time of his retirement. He and his wife were avid golfers and were members of Hickory Hills Golf Club in Chilton for many years. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, playing cards, entertaining friends, and was a former Lion’s member.
Survivors include his wife Jeanette “Marty” of Fond du Lac; seven children, Mike (Ellen) Wirtz, Katie (Bob) Schumacher, Don (Shelley) Wirtz, Mark (Carol) Wirtz, Dave (Amy) Wirtz, Patty (Jeremy) Kraus, Steve Wirtz; twelve grandchildren, Amy Wirtz, Jacob (Ayantu) Wirtz, Michael Schumacher, Nicole Wirtz, Brian Wirtz, Christina Wirtz, Matthew Wirtz, Jessica Wirtz, Ryan (Beth) Doll, Alexandria (Jason) Hojem, Tessa Wirtz, and Briar Wirtz; one great-grandchild, Olivia Hojem; one sister, Joan (Denis) Justman; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Mary Wirtz.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 from 3:30 PM until 7:30 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church-Holy Family, N8079 Church Rd, Malone, WI, 53049. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery.
