Leo Theodore Schneider of Deadwood Point, Fond du Lac, died January 11, 2015 at home after a lingering illness. He was born in the Town of Marshfield on November 24, 1930 to Victor & Frances (Halfmann) Schneider. He married Carol D Knaus at St. Joseph Church, St. Joe on August 16, 1958. Leo will be sadly missed by his wife of 56 years and his seven children and families. In 1987, he retired from the Soo Line Railroad after 33 years of service. He was a veteran of the US Army stationed in Germany from 1951 to 1953. He was a member of Elks Lodge #57, Abler-Engel American Legion Post #454, St. Peter Lions Club, and the Knights of Columbus Council #664.
He is survived by his wife Carol, children Judith (Mark) Bertram of Fond du Lac, Theodore (Marcia) of Waukesha, Lynn (Donald) Schmitz of Mt Calvary, David (Joanne) of Fond du Lac, Peter of Carmel, IN, Joseph (Kim) of Eldorado, Amy (Charles) Weber of Fond du Lac, his 17 grandchildren, Anita (Ben) Hawke, Matthew Bertram, Kate (Michael) Wade & Jacob Bertram, Megan (friend Brian) Schneider, Brandon (Nicole) Schneider, Zachary Schneider, & Adam (friend Amanda) Schneider, Bradley Schmitz & Phillip Schmitz, Brent Mulholland, Joshua Schneider & Jason Schneider, Sabrina Schneider, Craig Schneider & Annelise Schneider, and Colin (Cierra) Weber, 4 great grandchildren, Brianna Schneider-Young, Leo T. Schneider, and Grant and Serena Hawke. He is also survived by his brothers John (Marian), Edward (Marie), twin Alois (Bette), Victor (Mary Lou), James, his sisters, Olive Richter, Frances Stubbe, Mary White, Patricia Pittler, his sisters in laws Virginia Demshar, Serena Quackenboss, Helen Paula Olig, and Anna Mae Schwarz, his brother in law, James (Delores) Knaus, and many nieces and nephews.
Proceeding him in death were his parents, siblings: Marie (Orin) Krug, Gregor Schneider, Norbert (Evelyn) Schneider, Gerald Richter, Martha (Albert) Laudolff, Mildred Schneider, Anthony (Marlene) Schneider, Willard Stubbe, Lee White, Evelyn Schneider, Judy Schneider, & Robert Pittler, his in laws: Zelda (James) Blonigen, Rosabelle (Gregor) Klinzing, Vencil Demshar, Roman Quackenboss, Erwin Olig, Martina (Donald) Steffes, Florian Schwarz & Floyd Dierdorff.
Visitation for Leo T. Schneider will be on Thursday, January 15, 2015, from 3 to 8 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and again on Friday, January 16th from 9:30 to 10:45 AM at St. Peter Church-Holy Family Parish, W3698 County Road WH. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday at the church. Burial will follow in St. Peter Parish Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Leo’s name.
