Leon J. "Lee" Dolan, 81, of Fond du Lac, died Sunday, June 26, 2011 at Hospice Home of Hope. He was born November 6, 1929 in Fond du Lac, the son of Leon Irving and May Manila Doll Dolan. Lee was a graduate of St. Mary's Springs class of 1947. He served in the U. S. Army from 1951- 1953 during the Korean War, training at Fort Mammouth, New Jersey. He was a member of Holy Family Parish. On February 1, 1951 he married Virginia C. Schwandt at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Lee was an altar boy for many years at St. Joe's Catholic Church and an usher at St. Pat's Catholic Church. Lee worked for over 40 years with the SOO Line Railroad and the SOO Line Employee Credit Union, retiring in 1987. He enjoyed painting, gardening, collecting coins, playing cards, watching the Green Bay Packers, and loved being with family. His greatest joy was his six grandsons. Lee was very proud of being able to donate over 20 gallons of blood to the Red Cross over his lifetime.SURVIVORS: his wife of 60 years, Jinny; five children, M. Christine Dolan, Fond du Lac, L. John (Paula) Dolan, Fond du Lac, Charles (Lynn) Dolan, Fond du Lac, Thomas (Barb) Dolan, Fond du Lac, Catherine (Al) Quinn, Mt. Calvary; six grandsons, Christopher Dolan, Nader Abushhab, Daniel (fiancée, Kristin Bemis) Dolan, Steven (Libbey) Quinn, David Quinn, Michael Dolan; two great granddaughters, Aubrey and Avril Quinn. He is further survived by four sisters, Marjorie (Greg) Ilk, Oshkosh, Betty Adelman, Fond du Lac, Patricia Gratzke, Valley Center, CA, Nancy (Bill) Binner, North Fond du Lac; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Sonnentag; four brothers-in-law, Harold Sonnentag, Joseph Adelman, Charles Gratzke, Eugene Abler; one nephew, Goeffrey Ilk.
VISITATION: will be from 4 "“ 6 PM on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Holy Family Church, 271 4th Street Way, Fond du Lac. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6 PM on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Holy Family Church. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will be held at Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum, Calvary Cemetery.In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to the Hospice Home of Hope, Salvation Army, or Toys for Tots Foundation.The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Agnesian Home Care and Hospice, Dr. Betty and Lee's neighbors for their care and compassion.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
