Leonard A. Hoffman, 91, of Fond du Lac, died Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at All About Life Nursing Center. He was born February 13, 1925 in Fond du Lac, the son of Albert and Hattie Ohm Hoffman. Leonard served in the US Navy from 1943 – 1946 in the South Pacific. On July 23, 1949 he married Donna M. Parman at St. Patrick’s Rectory in Fond du Lac and she preceded him in death on February 15, 1999. He graduated with a degree in civil engineering from MIT in 1951 and a Master of Science degree in 1963 from University of Wisconsin. He worked as a civil engineer for Klug & Smith in Milwaukee and Hutter Construction in Fond du Lac, retiring in the early 1990’s. He played a vital part in the planning and construction of the City County Building in Fond du Lac. Leonard was a member of Immanuel Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed golfing, slow pitch softball, taking photos of birds, playing cards, and loved camping and visiting all of the National Parks with his family.
He is survived by his three children, Sharon (Alan) Schaefer of Henderson, NV, Gary Hoffman of Lodi, and Mike Hoffman of Sturtevant; four grandchildren, Brian Bode, Jeff (Jessie) Bode, Steve (Lynn) Bode, and Callysta Hoffman; five great grandchildren, Jacob, Jordan, Zachory, Jaxon, and Claire; one brother, Marvin “Red” Hoffman of Fond du Lac; one sister-in-law, Audrey Parman of Fond du Lac; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna; one brother and one sister.
The visitation will be held from 2:30 – 4:00 pm on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Immanuel Trinity Lutheran Church. The funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Immanuel Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Tom Meyer officiating. Entombment will take place in Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park.
Memorials can be made to Heartland Hospice in Leonard’s name.
