Leonard Arthur Scharf

Leonard Arthur Scharf, 77, of Oakfield, died Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Grancare Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born April 19, 1937 in Fond du Lac County, the son of William A. Scharf II and Josephine E. (Zahn) Scharf. On April 8, 1961 he married Mary Ellen Turville at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. Mary preceded him in death on October 11, 2014. Following graduation Len served in the U.S. Army Reserve 84th Division for six years and worked for International Paper before pursuing his lifelong dream of being a dairy farmer and independent business owner. He was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Oakfield. Len was a seed dealer with Dairyland Seed since 1971 through present. He was a member of AMPI, the National and Wisconsin Corn Growers Associations and the American Soybean Association. Len was active in the Fond du Lac County Republican Party and volunteered at EAA for 20 years. He was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed music, traveling, and loved spending time with his family.



He is survived by three children, William A. (Nikki) Scharf III, Woodbury, MN, Mark A. (Jeanne) Scharf, Madison Lake, MN, and Rebekah A. (Stephen) Mueller, Miramar, FL; four grandchildren, Erich (Sarah) Scharf, Elena, Alec, and Sofia Mueller; two step grandchildren, Stephanie Lewis and Jared Lewis; one brother, John (Marjory) Scharf, Lomira; one sister, Margaret Ungemach, Kenosha; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary; one daughter-in-law, Peggi Scharf; one brother-in-law, Edward Ungemach.



The visitation will be held from 9:00 – 11:00 am on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Oakfield. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Oakfield with Rev. Christopher Goelzer officiating. Cremation has taken place. Burial of Len and Mary will follow the service in Avoca Cemetery, Oakfield.
