Leonard J. “Lenny” Ruback, 84, of Fond du Lac, died Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the Hospice Home of Hope. He was born Thursday, July 26, 1934 in Chicago, Ill., the only child of Leonard and Violet (Gibbs) Ruback. Lenny grew up just outside of Fond du Lac and was a graduate of Goodrich High School. On October 29, 1955, he married Barbara Wurtz at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac.
Lenny loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. For many years, he enjoyed bowling with his good friend, Don “Boze” Henke, golfing, and playing cards in his card group. Lenny was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for 42 years. He worked for the Fond du Lac City Water Utility for 36 years, retiring in 1996.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; two sons, Mark (Sandy) Ruback and Randy (Robin) Ruback; seven grandchildren, Nathan (Amanda), Adam (Alison), Staci, Bradley (Katie), Grant, Cali, and Christopher (Joy); and five great-grandchildren, Ian, Eli, Paige, Leo and Kara.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and/or Agnesian Hospice Home of Hope.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, Monday, January 7, 2019 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 855 Martin Ave. in Fond du Lac. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM with Pastor Adam Zimpelmann officiating. Burial in Estabrooks Cemetery will follow the service.
