Leslie F. "Les"Hintz, 92, formerly of Takodah Drive, and currently a resident of Lake View Estates, died Friday, January 28, 2011, at the St. Francis Home. He was born October 7, 1918, in Appleton, the son of Arthur and Elsie Spreeman Hintz. On December 25, 1943, he married Mary J. Kingsbury at Camp Crowder, MO. Mr. Hintz was a founding and lifelong member of Church of Our Saviour Evangelical Lutheran. He was a 1936 graduate of Fond du Lac High School. He was a veteran of WW II serving in the US Army at Camp Crowder from 1942 to 1945. From 1945 to 1976, when he retired, Les and his wife owned and operated Skateland Roller Rink. Many, many people met their future spouses at Skateland Roller Rink. Les raised tumbler pigeons, and enjoyed fishing and hunting at his cottage at Shawano Lake. Surviving is his wife, Mary, a daughter, Linda (Ray Omland) Hintz and a son, Arthur (Claudia) Hintz, both of Fond du Lac, and a special niece, Nancy (Lyle) Park and her family of Rockford, IL. His parents and a brother, Lawrence, preceded him in death.
Visitation for Leslie F. "Les" Hintz will be on Tuesday, February 1, 2011, from 2 to 6 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 6 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. The Reverend Robert Rosenberg will officiate and burial will be in Estabrooks Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be directed to either St. Agnes Hospital Hospice Hope or Church of Our Saviour Evangelical Lutheran.
