Lewis Ray Higley

Lewis "Ray" Higley, 89, of Fond du Lac, died Friday, January 20, 2012 at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home. Ray was born May 28, 1922 in Brothertown, WI, the son of Don and Elizabeth Mertes Higley. He was a graduate of Goodrich High School. On June 26, 1954 he married Luella M. Hintz at Salem United Methodist Church. Ray was a member of Salem United Methodist Church since 1954 and a former choir member. Ray was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Atlantic Theatre from 1942- 1945. Ray worked for Mercury Marine for 23 years, retiring in 1987 and was a member of the IAMAW Local #1947. He enjoyed playing accordion, reading, and dancing in which he and Luella won a waltz contest in Sheboygan.SURVIVORS: his wife, Luella; one daughter, Linda Higley, Fond du Lac; one sister, Frances Higley, Fond du Lac; cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Mark Lewis Higley; and infant siblings.



VISITATION: will be from 9 "“ 11 AM on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home with Rev. Justin Lowe officiating. Burial will follow in Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery.
