On January 14, 2023, “I gained my angel wings, peacefully, and on my own terms at St. Agnes Hospital.”
Linda (Tootie) Moon was born on October 3, 1959, to Bennie and Millie (Shady) Moon. She was the youngest of six children.
Tootie graduated from MPTC and received a degree in Corrections/Police Science. She went on to work with juveniles as a group home specialist Fond du Lac County. She had to retire due to her health, but later worked at Schmitty’s Oar House for five years.
Tootie participated in many sports and excelled at them all. She shot pool in leagues, threw darts, bowled, and loved playing cards. She also played volleyball and baseball. Tootie really enjoyed pool tournaments, her partner was always her brother Ron (Mooner) and they placed 1st or 2nd in most tournaments. Tootie and Mooner were inseparable. They went camping, to concerts, and many vacations together. They shared many laughs and there was never a dull moment with them. Tootie loved football but was Nascar’s #1 fan. She always cheered for Rusty Wallace or Tony Stewart. She loved music and enjoyed summers floating in her pool and feeding the wild animals. She loved watching the planes fly over during EAA.
Tootie lit up a room as she entered. She was always upbeat and enjoyed being with friends. She will be missed.
Tootie is survived by her loving partner of 38 years, Mike Simon (“I love you Mike”); two very special cousins who stood by her side through this journey till her last breath, Sherry Wightman and Mary Broyles; many cousins; many friends who were important to her; and one special friends who always kept in touch, checking in on her through her last months and never leaving her through good times and bad, Roger Stubbe. Thank you for all you did Roger; a brother, Roy “Butch” (Cathy) Moon; and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; Jerry and Ronnie Moon; and Judy and Tom Schneider.
“I hope you will always remember me for my courage, my generous heart, my feisty attitude, my love for you all and my mischievous escapades.”
There will be a Celebration of Life on February 19, 2023, from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the Eagles Club, 515 North Park Avenue, Fond du Lac, WI 54935. In Tootie’s honor, wear your Nascar gear and party hard. Burial will occur at St. Charles Cemetery in the spring. Cremation has taken place.
Forget me not as time goes by
For you can find me in the sky
Forget me not for we’re apart
For you carry me within your heart
Forget me not although I’ve gone
For my memory will always love on
Instead remember me in every special way
Keep me close to your heart
We’ll meet again one day
“See you on the other side of the stars.”
LOVE, TOOTIE
