Loraine Louise Schwenck, 99, died peacefully Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac, with her son and daughter-in-law at her side. She was born July 18, 1911, in Marytown, WI, the daughter of Benedict and Rosa (Herzog) Heimerl. She graduated from St. Mary's School in Marytown. Loraine married Frederick William Schwenck on June 11, 1940 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Marytown. Together they farmed the Schwenck homestead in the village of Calumetville. Frederick 'Fritz' preceded her in death on February 14, 1980. She moved to St. Clare Terrace in Fond du Lac in April of 2002, where she enjoyed the time spent with others who shared her love of farming, gardening, playing cards and bingo, and attending Mass on a daily basis. Loraine will always be remembered by family and friends for her flower and vegetable gardens and her delectable desserts. She crocheted numerous afghans for her family, and also donated many to St. John's annual parish festival and agriculture education fundraisers. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg and its Altar and Rosary Society.Loraine is survived by her son, Ronald (Christine) of Calumetville. She is further survived by three grandchildren, Kari (Gregory) Hansen of Bangor, WI; Tracie (Jason) Luedtke of Beaver Dam; and Frederick 'Rick' Schwenck of Calumetville. Loraine was especially fond of her six great-grandchildren: Josephine, Ella and Rudolph Hansen; and Alexis, Cassandra and Max Luedtke. She is also survived by her special nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by all of her siblings. They include Olive (Alois) Birschbach, Ervin (Marcella, Eleanor) Heimerl, Agatha (Louis) Poinkowski, Marcella (Louis) Tagge, Sedonia (Hugo) Sabel, Anita (Joseph) Schmid and Alois (Marie) Heimerl. She was also preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Harvey Schwenck, and her sister-in-law, Alma (Rochus) Olig.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 4, 2010 from 9 to 11 am at St. John the Baptist church in Johnsburg, WI. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am, with the Rev. Joseph Coerber officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. A Memorial has been established. Uecker-Witt funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
