Lorraine M. Watke

Lorraine M. Watke, 95, of 247 E. 10th Street, died Sunday, October 30, 2011, at St. Francis Nursing Home. She was born April 2, 1916, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Edward and Ella Mietzel Ballwanz. She was a 1934 graduate of Fond du Lac High School. On September 15, 1945, she married Lyle Watke at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. Lorraine was employed by Wright Brothers Paper Box Company for over 35 years, retiring in 1979. She loved to baking, sewing, crafting, bowling, playing cards, and spending time with her family. Surviving is her husband, Lyle, a son, John (Dolores) Watke of Wallops Island, VA, a daughter, Nancy (Stephen) Gross of North Fond du Lac, a granddaughter, Angela (Joseph) Nitz of Fond du Lac, a great-granddaughter, Aubrey Nitz, a sister, Arlene Johnson, and a sister-in-law, Lorraine Ballwanz, both of Fond du Lac, many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Her parents, three brothers, Edward, Harvey, and Robert, a sister, Ruth Luebke, a brother-in-law, Richard Doylen, a sister-in-law, Dorothy Doylen, and a nephew, Richard Doylen preceded her in death.



Visitation for Lorraine M. Watke will be on Friday, November 4, 2011, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1600 S. Main Street, Fond du Lac. Funeral services will be at 12:30 PM at the church on Friday. The Rev. Michael Zuberbier will officiate and burial will be in Estabrooks Cemetery.
