Louise C. Thiel, 90, of Fond du Lac, died Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at St. Agnes Hospital. She was born on March 15, 1934, in Kiel, Wis., to Andrew and Stella (Madigan) Schnell. On April 4, 1959, she married Wallace Thiel in Kiel. He preceded her in death on November 17, 2013.
Wally and Louise raised their family in the Town of Wilson (a.k.a. Black River) and then New Holstein. In 1987, they moved to the shores of Lake Winnebago in rural Fond du Lac. Louise worked part time for many years as a tax preparer in New Holstein and Fond du Lac. She also volunteered at the Fond du Lac Senior Center. Louise enjoyed bowling and many crafts; crocheting, painting and wood burning to name a few. She also enjoyed playing bingo whether it was at the casino or at her assisted living facility.
She is survived by six children, Donald (Mary) Thiel, Kathleen (Joseph) Lemke, Russell (Michelle) Thiel, Patrick (Kathleen) Thiel, Randall Thiel (partner, Michele Laux), and Renee (David) Komosa; thirteen grandchildren, Michelle (Timothy) Bucher, Michael (Rachel) Thiel, Lauren (Nate) Howard, James (Amanda) Lemke, Jennifer (Matthew) Michener, Julia (Nick) Zeleske, Zachary Thiel (special friend, Rachel DeBroux), Jacob (Ashley) Thiel, Timothy (Trina) Thiel, William (Sara) Thiel, Bradley Thiel, Sara Komosa (fiancé, Nick Konen), and Austin (Taiyana) Komosa; great-grandchildren, Isla and Simon Bucher, Wallace and Wells Thiel, Madelyn Thiel, and Luka Komosa; three siblings, Gladys Paulson, Grace Mikalofsky, and James (Margie) Schnell; four sisters-in-law, Patricia Schnell, Lavern Kampmann, Jean Lauer, and Judith Krull; a brother-in-law, Herbert Thiel, Jr. (special friend, Magaret Heschke); and many dear nieces and nephews..
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant grandson, Travis Komosa; seven siblings, John (Evelyn) Schnell, Helen (Otto) Kaderabek, Bernice (Stephen) Zielke, Kenneth (Marie) Schnell, Francis Schnell, Alice (Walter) Dudarenke, and infant brother, Joseph Schnell; six brothers-in-law, Eugene Paulson, Edmund Mikalofsky, Ronald Kampmann, Donald Lauer, Merlin Krull, and Jerome Thiel; and a sister-in-law, LouAnn Thiel.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM, Monday, February 24, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, N8794 County Road W, Johnsburg, WI, 53049. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, beginning at 11:00 AM. Private family burial in St. Charles Cemetery will follow Mass.
