Lucille A. Manis, 100, of Fond du Lac, died Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Hospice Home of Hope, Fond du Lac. The former Lucille Kappell was born March 25, 1908, daughter of George and Daisy Seager Kappel in Minneapolis, MN. She married Abe Manis on October 19, 1928 in Waukegan, IL at the Division Street United Methodist Church. Lucille was a 1926 graduate of Fond du Lac High School and a member of Covenant & Division Street Methodist Church for 80 years, teaching Sunday school for 28 years and held offices in United Methodist Woman's Society as President, Treasurer and Secretary.Surviving is a daughter, Nanci (Jack) Sorensen, Huntley, IL; one daughter-in-law, Mary Manis, Manitowoc, WI; one son-in-law, Charles Streeter, Campbellsport, WI; seven grandchildren, Jacalyn (Dan) Sosin, Atlanta, GA, Holly (Leif) Rosenquist, Naperville, IL, Bill (Diane) Manis, Kelly Manis, both of Manitowoc, WI, Joan (Jim) Merwin, Julie (Mark) Sommerfeldt, Jill (John) Olson, all of Fond du Lac; 17 great-grandchildren, Ryan, Stephen, Nicklas and Alexander Manis, all of Manitowoc, Abby and Noah Sosin, Atlanta, GA, Britt and Dana Rosenquist, Naperville, IL, Abe and Elizabeth Draves, Troy and Katie Sommerfeldt, Rebecca, Rachel, Natalee, Shannon and Isabella Olson, all of Fond du Lac; nieces, Joey McKay Neumann, Judy Freidman, Harrette Manis and nephews, Dennis Richardson, Mike Manis, Harry and Steven Felsenthal; her dear close friends, Miriam Olmsted and Esther Dichraff and many other special friends. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Abe in 1980, her youngest daughter, Mary Ellen Streeter in 1996, her son, Bill Manis in 2007, her brother, Jim Richardson and wife Helen, and two other brothers, Frank and Mike, sisters, Ruth Kappell and Alvina Rahn, nieces, Barbara Rahn Collins, Jan Richardson Pinto and special friend, Patricia O'Hearn.
Visitation for Mrs. Lucille A. Manis will be on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, from 4 to 7 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, August 6th at the funeral home at 11 am. The Rev. Michael Morning will officiate and burial will be in Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery.
