Lucille E. Groff, 86, formerly of 271 Wilson Avenue, and a resident of Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mt. Calvary since 2000, died there on Monday, July 6, 2009. She was born March 25, 1923, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Lawrence and Cecelia Michels Nettekoven. On August 11, 1945, she married Raymond P. Groff at St. Joseph's Church in Fond du Lac. He preceded her in death on September 16, 1993. Lucille was a member of Holy Family Parish, the St. Anne Society, and the Mission Quilter Group. She was a devoted mother and homemaker.Surviving are two sons, Ray (Nancy) Groff and Jim (Sue) Groff, both of Fond du Lac, two daughters, Carol (Jack) Braun and Janice (fiancé Mike Mathers) Geib, both of Fond du Lac, eight grandchildren, Jeff and Randy Groff, Shannon Nitz, Chris Groff, Jeremy and Kelly Braun, Travis Geib, and Tannar Mathers, and 11 great-grandchildren. Four sisters, Ruth Becker, Florence Hettwer, Eileen Borndahl, and Mary Leonard, and one brother, David Nettekoven, further survive her. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Raymond, two sisters, Marian Nettekoven and Rita Barbeau, three brothers-in-law, George Becker, David Borndahl, Max Barbeau, a sister-in-law, De Vern Nettekoven, and a grandson, Chad Groff.
Visitation for Mrs. Lucille E. Groff will be on Thursday, July 9, 2009, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and on Friday, July 10th, from 9 to 10 am at Holy Family Parish, 271 Fourth Street Way. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am on Friday at the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Lucille's name.
