Lucille H. Frazier LeMieux, 84, formerly of 260 Grand Court, Fond du Lac, died Sunday, February 7, 2010, at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home where she had been a resident since November of last year. She was born April 23, 1925 in Fond du Lac, the seventh of ten children to Frederick and Margaret Isabelle Scholl Frazier. She was a great granddaughter (maternal side) of an 1848 pioneer settler of Fond du Lac County, Jacob and Gertrude Scholl.On July 12, 1968 she married Truman A. LeMieux of North Fond du Lac in Waukegan, IL. They made their home in North Fond du Lac. He died November 7, 1978. Lucy was a member of Presentation Parish in North Fond du Lac. She moved back to Fond du Lac in 1989.Lucy attended Lincoln Public grade school; St Joseph's parochial grade school; and graduated from Fond du Lac Senior High School in 1943. Immediately upon graduation she left for Chicago to work as a clerk typist for the Army War Bond Office (Civil Service) during World War II until 1945. She then returned to Fond du Lac and was employed by businesses such as Better Farms Dairy, Inc, Universal CIT Credit Corp, Wells Manufacturing Corp, and Schreiner's Restaurant. She also was employed as an Office Secretary for Badger Soft Water, Inc. since 1957 retiring November 17, 2000 after 43 years of service.Lucy was very active in many organizations and volunteered much of her time. She was the Founder of the Fond du Lac County Genealogical Society in 1975, and served as the Society's first president. She was a member of the Wisconsin State Genealogical Society; the Wisconsin State Historical Society; and a charter member of the Wisconsin State Old Cemetery Society. She was very active in the Fond du Lac County Historical Society where she served on the Board of Directors for 18 years and chaired many committees. She was a Team Captain in charge of weekend guides at the Galloway House and Village. She was a member of the Fond du Lac County Historical Society since 1973.Lucy was a member of Fond du Lac Community Theatre. She performed and served on many committees, such as make-up, box office, usher, and others. She was a member of ARC of Fond du Lac, charter member of Fond du Lac Friends of the Senior Center, Inc, and charter member of the Fond du Lac Senior Center 'Red Hat Society". She was a member of the Fond du Lac Senior Center dance group the 'Linettes' since 1989 and anchorwoman for the group. She was a member of TPU (Taylor Park University) and its dance group, 'The Taylorettes'. She was a Historic Storyteller portraying an early pioneer settler of Fond du Lac County. She volunteered for many years for EAA. She was one of the organizers of the Historic Downtown Days Attraction for 1995, 1996, and 1997 and was honored as its 1996 parade Marshall. She was chosen as one of six outstanding Senior Citizens of Fond du Lac County 1990. She received an award honoring her as 1995 'Career Woman of the year' from the area Career Woman's Club. In 2004 she received an award as 'Outstanding Senior Volunteer' from "Cheers for Volunteers', and received many other recognitions. Among her many loves, dancing was one of her favorites since she was a little girl. She also enjoyed writing family histories; socializing, golf, sheepshead, and enjoyed being with family and friends. She loved people. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Kay MacPhail (Jerome) Heider of Fond du Lac, one stepson, Jerome (Ruth) LeMieux of Fond du Lac, one stepdaughter, Janet (Clifford) Lange of Oceanside, CA, two grandchildren, five great grandchildren, twelve step grandchildren; one special step-grandson, Jeffery (Ann) LeMieux of Brunswick, GA, 19 step great grandchildren, and three step great great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Carl (Joyce) Frazier of Fond du Lac, many nieces and nephews, great nieces nephews, and great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Truman; two stepsons, James and John LeMieux; her parents; four sisters, Ruby Lloyd, Pearl Frazier, Eunice Goldapske, and Alice Frazier; four brothers, Harry, Florian, Carlton (twin), and Paul Frazier, two brothers-in-law, Lester Lloyd, and John "Hans" Goldapske, and two sisters-in-law, Mildred and Dr. Jane (Koll) Frazier.
Visitation for Lucille H. "Lucy" Frazier LeMieux will be on Friday, February 12, 2010, from 4 to 8 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and again on Saturday, February 13th from 9 to 10:30 am at the funeral home. Family prayers will be at 10:30 am followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at Presentation Church, 705 Michigan Avenue, North Fond du Lac. The Rev. John Simon will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Lucy's name.
