Madeline M. (Schroeder) LaCrosse passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Artisan Memory Care in Fond du Lac. She was born on August 9, 1917, the daughter of Michael and Mary Schroeder. The last of twelve children, six brothers and five sisters preceded her in death. She attended St. George's Grade School in Kenosha, WI. She graduated from St. Catherine's High School in Racine in 1936.On August 27, 1936 she married John (Jack) LaCrosse in Marytown, WI, with Monsignor Orth officiating. They moved to Fond du Lac in 1956. Jack preceded her in death on August 29, 1979. Madeline worked at Taycheedah Correctional Institution as a guard for many years and retired in 1972. She volunteered at the Health Care Center for eighteen years. She loved traveling to Europe and spent many years in Florida and Arizona. Her favorite pastime was knitting, crocheting, reading, and especially playing cards with her good friends, Audrey Martin and Doralee Sadowski.She is survived by her only daughter, Suzy (Jim) Callahan; two granddaughters, Vicky (David) Raddatz, and Kris (Donald) Grebe; four great-grandchildren, Savannah and Carson Raddatz, and Callahan and Luke Grebe; two sisters in law, Dorothy Schroeder of Kenosha, and Alice Petersen of Maryland; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, six brothers, and five sisters.
VISITATION: Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, WI. PRAYER SERVICE: Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 11:30 A.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery.We would like to thank Walnut Grove (Artisan) on Pioneer Parkway and Hospice Advantage for all the love and support you have given our Mom and Grandma for the last six months.
