Marguerite V. "Muggs" Lapine

Marguerite V. "Muggs", LaPine, 80, formerly of 356 Doty Street, died at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home on Sunday, January 27, 2008 where she had been a resident since November of 2007. She was born January 12, 1928, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of George and Viola Potratz Gratton. She was a member of the Church of Peace where she formerly sang in the choir. Marguerite was formerly employed by Brauer's Clothing Store as a bookkeeper for 23 years, and later worked for Combined Insurance and Goodwill until her health forced her to retire. A woman of many talents, "Muggs" was a super cookie maker; she loved her flowers, TV shows, and was an avid Cubs fan. She embroidered dishtowels for all her nieces, nephews, and friends. Every year, she made sets of towels for the Church of Peace Bazaar and worked in the Christmas booth. For many years, she was a volunteer for the Evening Kiwanis Club at the World's Largest Fish Fry where she cleaned tables and visited all the people. She also enjoyed bowling for many years participating in city and state tournaments. Surviving is her daughter, Patti Lane (Richard) Kulaga of North Las Vegas, NV; and two sisters, Marie Michalowske and Judie (Norm) Behnke, both of Fond du Lac. She is further survived by nieces and nephews; Sharon (Jerry) Wagner of Fond du Lac, Kathy (David) Luther of Westfield, Lois (Norb) Gray, Carol (Jack) Farvour, Mike (Sandy) Pickart, Jim (Julie) Pickart, and John Pickart, all of Oshkosh, JoAnn (Brad) Davis of Wisconsin Dells, Bob (Cindy) Gratton of Fond du Lac, Tom (Donna) Gratton of North Fond du Lac, John (Nancy) Gratton of Oshkosh, Carla Behnke of Thiensville, and Curt Behnke of Chicago, IL. Also surviving are many great nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, three sisters, Evelyn Fincke, Bette Pickart, and June Crain, a brother, Adrian "Sam" Gratton, and four brothers-in-law, Roland Fincke, Louis Pickart, Robert Crain, and Joe Michalowske.



Visitation for Mrs. Marguerite V. "Muggs" LaPine will be from 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and on Thursday, January 31, 2008, from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the Church of Peace, 158 S. Military Road. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am at the church on Thursday. Pastor Jennifer Dawson will officiate and burial will be in Estabrooks Cemetery.
