Maria Valtierra touched the lives of many. She opened her home and heart to those in need and gave unconditionally. Maria was a loving, caring wife and mother who taught her children how to be caring, proud and respectful of others. For many years, Maria made annual trips to Mexico with supplies of food, clothing and medicine to give to those in need. Maria was called to Heaven on July 21, 2005 and now rests in God's Garden. Her daughter Susana was by her side.Maria was born in Lamar, Colorado on July 1, 1925. She married Ramon Valtierra in Fresnillo, Zacatecas Mexico and moved to Fond du Lac in 1947. Maria and Ramon celebrated 65 years of marriage on June 24, 2005. She recently celebrated her 80th birthday surrounded by her husband and 8 children. Maria dedicated her life to raising her family. She was a beautiful, spirited mother and friend. Her legacy will live on through the many women, children and families she has helped. Maria had the strength and determination to overcome many illnesses that included 3 open-heart surgeries, 2 strokes, breast cancer, diabetes and Alzheimer's.She is survived by her husband Ramon and children Val Ryan, Flora Stapel (Doug), Esperanza (Babe) Willis (Bill), Ray Valtierra (Mary), Armando Valtierra, Susana Valtierra, Rhonda Whitenack (Paul) and Richard Valtierra (Jennifer); mother Maria Ruiz; grandchildren Deanna Stapel, Audra, Ray and Alicia Ryan, Zachary and Zoe Valtierra, Anthony and Avianna Valtierra and Vanessa Whitenack; great grandchild Joshua Ryan.
Memorial and visitation will take place Saturday, July 30, 2005 from 2-5 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and Memorial Service from 5-5:30 pm. A mass will be attended on Sunday July 31, 2005 at 12:00 noon at St. Mary's Church. A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday July 31, 2005 at the Holiday Inn from 2-6 pm.Maria and the Valtierra family would appreciate in lieu of flowers; that memorial donations go to those in need. Memorials are appreciated, in Maria's name, to the Valtierra family fund. In order to continue Maria's legacy, Memorial donations will be given to the following; The Bucerias Children's Orphanage of Bucerias, Mexico and Elder Care-Adult Day Center, Madison, WI. Donations can be sent directly to Uecker-Witt Funeral Home.
