Marian A. BalnisMarian A. Balnis, 84, of Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, January 11, 2006, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac with her loving family at her side. She was born September 3, 1921, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of John and Rose Kinkel Thurk. She married William Balnis on March 12, 1938. They were married and resided happily together in Fond du Lac for 42 years until his death in March of 1980.Marian was a feisty, loving and compassionate woman. Her passion for teaching and playing games was infectious. She especially enjoyed playing cards and was an avid scrabble player. She also enjoyed cooking, fishing, and entertaining family and friends. She previously belonged to the Town and Country Club, and loved golfing with her friends. Many appreciated her extraordinary generosity and enthusiastic sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. Surviving is her daughter, Carol "Fuzzy" Ludwig and son-in-law, Roger Ludwig, of Oshkosh, her granddaughter, Stacy Ludwig, Esq., and grandson, William Ludwig, both of Washington, DC. In addition to her parents and husband, Marian was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Nathan Thurk, one sister, Janet Cotter, three half brothers, Clarence, John, and Olllie Thurk, one half sister, Betty Dufrane, and numerous nieces and nephews.



Visitation for Mrs. Marian A. Balnis will be on Saturday, January 14, 2006, from 12 noon to 2 pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm at the funeral home on Saturday.
