Marian Jean Schneider

Marian Jean Schneider, age 94, longtime resident of Fond du Lac, passed away on September 28, 2021, in Burlington, WI.

She was born on August 5, 1927, to Oscar and Frances (Bump) Blackburn. Marian was the fifth of six Blackburn children who all grew up in Fond du Lac.



On May 28, 1949, Marian was united in marriage to John Schneider at Plymouth Congregational Church in Fond du Lac. They were married for 71 years until John’s passing in October of 2020.

Marian worked as a secretary for several Fond du Lac abstract companies in the 1950’s and 1960’s. After that she became part of the team at the Fond du Lac County Register of Deeds office for 20 years. She was an excellent typist and very detailed with all of her work. She enjoyed her co-workers and serving the public.

In retirement, Marian enjoyed camping, traveling, casino trips, and countless cards games with family and friends. She always had food ready for any visitor and loved to welcome them into her home. Holidays were always celebrated with her special family meals.



Marian grew up with five brothers who treated her like a queen. She loved all of her brothers and they were always a special part of her life. Soon after she married John, they built a home on Maria Lane and lived in the same house for over 66 years. They raised their three children and sent all of them to college. Friends and family will remember Marian’s generosity, strong spirit, and quick wit.



She was always there to help whenever anyone needed it. Marian loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She never missed a birthday or holiday and there was always a card and a present. Marian was a special gift to all who knew her and will be missed by many.



Marian is survived by her sons, Gary (Karyn) Schneider of McFarland, WI and Steven (Lisa) Schneider of Burlington, WI; daughter Sandra (James) Hunter of Womelsdorf, PA; five grandchildren: Sally (Matt) Nie, Kelly (Dan) Leahy, Jacob (Ellyn) Schneider, Eric Schneider, Benjamin (Kristin) Hunter; 7 great-grandchildren: Ian, Sean & Abby Nie, Broderick & Winona Schneider, Rusty & Charlotte Hunter; brother, Gerald Blackburn; sisters -in-law, Patricia Pittler, Mary White, Carol Schneider, Bette Schneider of Fond du Lac; brother-in-law, Victor (Mary Lou) Schneider of Taycheedah, WI and many, many nephews and nieces.





She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years John; parents, Frances and Oscar Blackburn; mother and father in-law Victor and Frances Schneider; siblings: Ronald (Alta) Blackburn, Raymond (Mary) Blackburn, James (Anita) Blackburn, Lynn (Delores) Blackburn; and brothers in law: Gregor Schneider, Norbert (Evelyn) Schneider, Robert Schneider, Ernest Schneider, Edward (Romilda) Schneider, Anthony (Sue) Schneider, Leo Schneider, Alois Schneider, James (Judy) Schneider, Robert Pittler and Lee White; sisters in-law Virginia Blackburn, Marie (Oral) Krug, Olive (Gerald) Richter, Martha (Albert) Laudolff, Frances (Willard) Stubbe,



Visitation will take place on Saturday, October 9, 2021, from 10-11 AM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow the visitation at the funeral home at 11:00 AM.
