Marie Braun, 91, a resident of the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home, died on Saturday September 15, 2007. She was born on November 26, 1915 to Michael and Christina Omasta Chodak, who emigrated with their young family to the U.S. from Slovakia. On May 23, 1939 she married Elmer Braun; they lived their entire married life in the Fond du Lac area. After raising their 6 children, she worked as a nurse's aide at St Agnes Hospital, where she continued as a volunteer upon retirement. Distinguished by her kindness, intelligence, and sense of humor, she loved reading, listening to music, the outdoors, and walked outside every day until recently. Throughout her life she was an accomplished seamstress, who also knit and crocheted many creations for her family and numerous charitable groups. She is survived by her 6 children: Ronald and his friend, Murie Karlin of Somerset, NJ; Daniel and his wife Luane of Hartland, WI; Nancy at All About Life Nursing Home FDL; J.Peter and his wife Dolores of FDL; Robert and his wife Gayle of Hancock, WI; and Mary Elizabeth of Corvallis, OR. She has 11 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren and one Great-Great Granddaughter. Her sister Alice Zahn and brother Wally Chodak, in laws Evelyn and Estelle Braun Eugene Braun and his wife Pat also survive her. She is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; sisters Ann, Christina, and Betty; and brother Michael.
Visitation will be held on Thursday September 20, 2007 from 10 to 11 am at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 11 am. Rev. Dean Desilet will be officiating and entombment will follow at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
