Marie E. Mand, 95, of Fond du Lac, died Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Hospice Home of Hope. She was born March 4, 1926 in Tomahawk, WI, the daughter of Henry and Louisa Faerber Gleisner. On June 26, 1971 Marie married Silverius “Servie” Mand at St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
Marie received her Bachelor of Education Degree from Mt. Mary College in Milwaukee and a Masters Degree in Administration and Supervision from Marquette University in Milwaukee. Marie enjoyed working with children. She was a teacher and taught all elementary grades in various schools in Wisconsin and was principal of a school for six years before her marriage. After her marriage, Marie taught in Fond du Lac until her retirement in 1989.
Marie was a member of Holy Family Catholic Community, Christian Mothers and Altar Society of St. Peter, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, Ladies of the Elks, and Fond du Lac Senior Center.
Marie enjoyed game shows, gambling, playing cards, traveling, shopping, housekeeping, cooking and baking. Marie also did some volunteer work as an Adult Literacy tutor.
Survivors include sisters-in-law, Esther Mand and Irene Mand of Fond du Lac, and Virginia Schneider of St. Peter; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Silverius “Servie” of 44 years; her parents, Henry and Louisa Gleisner; sisters, brothers, and in-laws, Irene (Sister Sylvina), Agnes and Henry Van Harpen, Bernard and Clara Gleisner, Lloyd and Geraldine Gleisner, Florence and Leon Weizenicker, Ralph Gleisner, Martin and Mildred Gleisner, Veronica Gleisner, Theresa and Richard Ferrie, and Catherine Gleisner; sisters and brothers-in-law, Florence and Alex Michels, Alois and Lydia Mand, Ambrose and Agnes Mand, Raymond and Mary Mand, Alfred Mand, Leo Mand, Genevieve and Emil Kopplin, Marie and Wilfred Abler, and Adolph Schneider; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at St. Peter Church, Holy Family Parish from 9:30 – 11:00 AM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Memorials are appreciated to St. Peter Church or Hospice Home of Hope in Marie’s name.
