Marion A. Salzwedel

February 19, 1917 — April 12, 2009

Marion A. Salzwedel, 92, formerly of 44 Doty Street, died Sunday, April 12, 2009 at Fond du Lac Lutheran Home. She was born February 19, 1917 in Antigo, WI, the daughter of Edward A. and Helen M. Quast Gray. Marion married Gilbert Salzwedel in September of 1937 at St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac and he preceded her in death in March of 2002. Marion made ammunition shells at Gidding & Lewis during World War II and for her work she received a pin of appreciation from the United States Government. She worked at Gilmore Liquor Store for over 30 years retiring in 1988. Marion was a member of Church of Peace. She taught cake decorating, raised African violets, and was a very caring person. SURVIVORS: one son, Larry Salzwedel, Defiance, OH; two grandsons, Jay (Lenny) Schenk, Chadwick, IL, Tom Schenk, Glendale, AZ; one granddaughter, Pattie Hammett, Tigard, OR; one great grandson, Alex Schenk, Chadwick, IL; one brother, Leo Gray, Fond du Lac; one sister, Pat Gray, Fond du Lac; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Gray, Fond du Lac, Audrey Gray, Fond du Lac. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one infant twin son, David; one daughter-in-law, Donna Salzwedel; six brothers; three sisters.



Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 17, 2009 at Estabrooks Cemetery with Rev. James F. D. Martin officiating. Cremation has taken place.The family extends a special thank you to the nurses and staff on the 2nd floor of the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home.Memorials are appreciated to the Church of Peace for the Martha's Society or the children's programs.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
