Marion Frances Thornton, 92, formerly of North Fond du Lac and currently a resident of the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home, went to be with her Lord and Savior and to be reunited with her beloved husband, Jim on Tuesday, June 6, 2011 at the nursing home. She was born on May 30, 1919 in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Martin and Anna Wagner Resheske. On October 1, 1945 she married James A. Thornton at Presentation Church, North Fond du Lac and he preceded her in death on October 15, 1996. After graduation from Horace Mann High School Marion attended Fountain City Business College, Fond du Lac receiving a degree Stenotyping. She worked several years for Dr. Leonard Keenan as his office assistant, then as a loan secretary for Fond du Lac Saving & Loan until her retirement. Marion was an avid Packer and Brewer's fan, being able to name all players and their positions. She loved various crafts and her flower gardens. She was a member of Presentation Church, North Fond du Lac where she served several years on the Altar Society and various church committees. Marion and Jim raised their five daughters in the their home at 1109 Minnesota Avenue, North Fond du Lac. Her home was her pride and joy, she was honored when her family received recognition from Rep. Petri during the 1976 Bicentennial as owning the oldest home in the village.SURVIVORS: Marion is survived by five daughters, Ann Schwemmer, Fond du Lac, Patricia (John) Berlowski, Oakfield, Jane (Tom) Vollmer, Mayville, Mary (Mike) Rieder, Sherwood, Kathleen (Don) McCaffrey, Hancock; 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one nephew; three nieces; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim; two brothers, George and Raymond Resheske; one sister, Margaret Develice; one nephew, Richard Develice.
VISITATION: will be from 9:30 "“ 11:30 AM on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The Liturgy of the Word service will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home with Rev. John Simon officiating.
