Marion J. Cotter, 81, formerly of Lakeview Road and a resident of Villa Rosa at Mt. Calvary for the past year and a half, died Monday, June 11, 2007, at St. Agnes Hospital. She was born June 19, 1925, in Mt. Calvary, the daughter of Dennis P. and Caroline G. Dietzen Thome. On May 30, 1963, she married John G. "Jack/Curly" Cotter at St. Mary's Church in Fond du Lac. He preceded her in death on September 12, 2004. Mrs. Cotter was a member of Holy Family Parish-St. Peter and its Altar Society, the Mission Quilting of St. Peter, and the Villa Loretto Auxiliary where she did volunteer work. She enjoyed doing family genealogy. She derived great joy from her years of volunteer work, life and friendship with the Sisters Servants of Christ the King and staff of the Villa Loretto.Surviving is a daughter, Marian J. Cotter of Chicago, two sisters, Doris Duwell and Mary Jean Beyer, both of Mt. Calvary, three brothers, Alois Thome of Mt. Calvary Gordon (Rosie) Thome of New Holstein, and Dennis (Joanne) Thome of Fond du Lac, a sister-in-law, Betty Thome of Appleton, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Her parents, husband, a brother, Earl J. Thome, preceded her in death.
Visitation for Mrs. Marion J. Cotter will be on Thursday, June 14, 2007, from 2 to 4 pm at St. Peter Church, St. Peter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 4 pm at the church on Thursday. Rev. Patrick Heppe will officiate and burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be directed to the Villa Loretto Campaign Fund.
