Marjorie “Marge” Mae Keenlance, 93, of Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Harbor Haven Health and Rehab Center. Marge was born September 11, 1925, daughter of Joseph and Viola (Barnett) Miller and was a raised on a farm in Armstrong, Illinois. After graduating from Armstrong High School in 1943, she aided in the war effort by working in an airplane parts factory in DeKalb, Illinois. She then moved to Fond du Lac where she met and married Earl J. Jansen in 1945 and they had one son, Jerald. In 1952 She married Ralph L. Keenlance, and they had three children, Jeffrey, Julie, and Jeanne. Ralph passed away on June 3, 1969.
While raising her children, Marge spent over 50 years working in Fond du Lac area restaurants, several of those years at the Beer Hut and then many more at Schreiner’s where she finally retired at the age of 74. Marge enjoyed being with her children, and especially enjoyed visiting Door County with all of them each year, taking pleasure in the Northwoods, and even camping, hiking trails, and climbing rocks in her 70s. Her favorite activity, however, was the Fish Boil at the White Gull Inn.
Marge is survived by her children, Jerry (Diana) Jansen of Mesa, AZ, Julie (John) Coffey, and Jeanne (Steve) Halfmann, all of Fond du Lac; grandchildren, Eric (Joan) Matz of Lenoir, NC, Heidi (Kevin) Hargis of Lodi, WI, Jennifer (Jim) Beine of Rubicon, WI, Jon (Tiffany) Halfmann of Fond du Lac, and Erin (Josh) Murphy of Mesa, AZ; fourteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Charlotte Miller; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph; son, Jeff; sister, Ruth; and brothers, Joseph, Sam, and John.
The visitation will be held from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Estabrooks Cemetery.
Memorials can be directed to Agnesian Hospice Hope in Marge’s name.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Harbor Haven and Agnesian Hospice nurses and volunteers for the care and compassion given to Marge and her family.
