Marlene Ann Ransom, 71, of Fond du Lac Wisconsin, died peacefully Saturday, March 18, 2006, at St Agnes Hospital. She was born February 18, 1935, in Fond du Lac, where she lived her entire life.Marlene married her paperboy and high school sweetheart, Jim Ransom Sr, in 1955. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee, which was also the site of their honeymoon and 25th anniversary. Marlene and Jim founded Ransom's Restaurant in 1979 and operated the family business for 18 years. Her favorite hobby was her love of people. This special quality really helped build her second family at the restaurant. Marlene was defined by her kindness. She had a special personality that touched so many lives...Marlene loved her Card Club, Birthday Club, shopping, comedy clubs, talking with friends and gardening. She always added life to the party. She made everyone around her smile and feel better about themselves. Marlene truly made the world a better place.Marlene is survived by her best friend and husband Jim, her two sons, Jim Jr and his wife Kris (Kirchhoff) of Neenah, Scott and his wife Virginia (Keehn) of Madison, her daughter Edie Pierce and her husband Steve of Lake Mills, and her seven grandchildren, Stephanie, Eric, Courtney, Scott Jr., Damry, Rachel and Luke. She is also survived by her sister, Donna Burton and husband Carlton, and brother, Robert Deitte and wife Virginia. Her life revolved around family. Marlene's extended family included numerous friends and relatives that Jim Sr. and the children would like to thank for their incredible support as she battled over the past few months. We will all miss her so, so much.Marlene was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Deitte, and her parents, Milbert and Razada Deitte.
Visitation for Marlene will be on Tuesday, March 21, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Uecker-Witt Funeral home in Fond du Lac. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am onWednesday, March 22, with Rev. Victor Capriolo officiating at Holy Family Sacred Heart church. There will be no visitation at the funeral home Wednesday morning. Cremation will follow the traditional services.
