Martha Smiljanic Schafer

April 5, 1920 — March 29, 2004

Martha Smiljanic Schafer, age 83, of 863 Forest Ave. Fond du Lac, entered God's Kingdom Monday, March 29, 2004 with her loving children at her side. She was born on April 5, 1920 in Milwaukee the daughter of Helen and John Smiljanic. She graduated from Oakfield High School on May 26, 1938. Martha graduated from Milwaukee Business College and began employment with the United States Navy Inspection office in 1942. Martha was exuberant and loved life. She traveled to Europe and North Africa on many occasions and toured the United States extensively. She was a member of the Fond du Lac Senior Citizens writing club. Martha authored many short stories and had a number of her poems published. She was a volunteer at the Fond du Lac Hospice Home and was also a volunteer that fed the less fortunate at churches in Fond du Lac.Martha will be dearly missed, survived by her children, Mark, Mike, Scott, Kurt, and Brian Schafer all of Southern California, Cheryl Price, Steve and Gregg Schafer, all of Minneapolis, MN, Terry Schafer of Madison, sisters, Mary Runkel, Helen Abram, Jean Nack, and Alice Halvorsen of the Milwaukee area, Rose Smiljanic, and Lucile Kissen both of Fond du Lac, brother Douglas Smiljanic of Oconomowoc, also surviving are sixteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and longtime companion, Eugene Floyd. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, John and Roko Smiljanic, also her husbands, Arthur C. Schafer, and Charles S. Schaefer.



Burial will be in her beloved Milwaukee. Private services are planned.
