Mary Ann Potratz

Mary Ann Potratz, 64, of Fond du Lac, flew into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on March 14, 2014 after a short and courageous battle with cancer at Hospice Home of Hope. Mary Ann was born in rural Fond du Lac (Lamartine) to Paul Jr. and Ruth (Fenner) Potratz. She was a graduate of Oakfield High School and gave over 40 years of service to Younkers (formally Pranges) in Fond du Lac. Mary Ann was a former member of Church of Peace where she served for over 30 years in the Beginners Department as a teacher and later superintendent. In her later years Mary Ann became a member of Salem United Methodist Church where she was an avid volunteer. She worked year-round making sure the church's annual Apple Harvest Fest was a success with the amazing basket creations. In addition, Mary Ann had a deep passion for music and singing. She instilled the same passion in many of her nieces and nephews along with a love for all things Disney. Although she did not have a family of her own, Mary Ann dedicated her life to her extended family. She was devoted to her parents and ensured their every need was met in their later years. Her brothers John and Mark were also very important to her as she worked hard to be the best big sister possible. She took great pride in her nieces and nephews, attempting to attend every school concert, graduation, and birthday party. To them she was extremely generous and was often quoted as saying "it's an Aunt's prerogative."Words cannot express how missed Mary Ann will be by her family and friends. Mary Ann is survived by her mother Ruth (Fenner) Potratz; her brothers, John W. (Conni) Potratz and Mark (Carol) Potratz; her six nieces and nephews, Angi (Andy) Roloff, Jennifer (Chris) Reitemeier, Jacki (Chris) Haase, Paul W. Potratz, Seth (Marianne) Potratz, and Bethany (Mark) Nier and eight great-nieces and nephews, Averi and Carter Roloff, Olivia and Jack Reitemeier, Norah, Kate, and Clare Haase, and Corban Nier. Mary Ann is also survived by her loving Godmother, Mary Lou Fox and Godchildren, Jenny Reitemeier and Leslie Brotkowski. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her grandparents, William and Laura Fenner and Paul Sr. and Mildred Potratz; and her father, Paul Potratz, Jr.Mary Ann's family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Donald



Vanbeek, Dr. Gabriel Litman and the staff of Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac for their compassionate care and honesty during Mary Ann's final days.The visitation will be held from from 2:00 "“ 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Beaton officiating. Private family burial will take place in Estabrooks Cemetery.
