Mary E. MertenMary E. Merten, 67, of N9802 County Highway W in Johnsburg died Thursday, February 10, 2005 at St. Agnes Hospital. Mary was born October 23, 1937 in Fond du Lac, a daughter of Anton and Florence Stephany Seurer. On October 13, 1956 she married Lawrence C. Merten at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg. Mary was a graduate of St. Mary's Springs High School. She farmed with her husband Larry for 40 years and was a loving housewife and mother. For the last 17 years she worked part-time cleaning at the Fond du Lac Regional Clinic with her husband. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg where she was a member of the Christian Mothers and the Altar Society. Mary enjoyed golfing, gambling, playing cards, but most of all cooking and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Larry of Johnsburg, six children; Ann (Brian) Schmitz of Johnsburg, Allan (Rosie) Merten of Fond du Lac, Alice Merten of Sheboygan Falls, Audrey Merten of Fond du Lac, Arlene (Jeff) Mand of St. Peter, Arlyn Merten of Johnsburg, four grandchildren; Tony Merten, Ashley Mand, Kyle Mand, and Hailey Mand. She is further survived by one sister-in-law; Hazel Blanck, two brother-in-laws; Willard Daun and Ernest Merten, and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister; Darlene Daun, one infant brother, her mother and father-in-law, one brother-in-law; Robert Blanck, and one sister-in-law; Virginia Merten.



Visitation for Mrs. Merten will be held on Sunday, February 13, 2005 from 3-8 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again on Monday, February 14, 2005 from 9-10 A.M. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 14, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and at 10:30 A.M. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg with the Rev. Joseph Coerber and Rev. Mel Hermanns officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is serving the family.
