Mary Irene Gormican

Mary Irene Gormican, 87, formerly of Lakeview Road, and currently a resident of Grancare Nursing Home, died September 17, 2005, at her residence. She was born January 17, 1918, in New Orleans, a daughter of Charles and Mary Angela Griffin Medinnis. On March 15, 1941, she married James T. Gormican, Jr. in Cedar Rapids, IA. He preceded her in death on December 17, 1991. Mary was a member of Holy Family Parish. She was a graduate of Mount St. Mary's College in Los Angeles and spent nine years in the Los Angeles area before moving to Fond du Lac in 1945. Mrs. Gormican served on the board of directors of St. Mary's Springs, and she was past president of the St. Lawrence Seminary Guild. Surviving are four daughters, Mary Anne (Henry) Lindborg, Kathleen Gormican, and Margaret (Mark) Schnapp all of Fond du Lac, and Patricia (John) Harvey of Appleton; two sons, John (Mary Ellen) Gormican and Paul Gormican, all of Fond du Lac, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, a brother, Colonel (Ret.) Charles (Bernice) Medinnis of San Fernando, CA, and a daughter-in-law, Pat Wilkum of Fond du Lac. Her parents, husband, and a son, James Gormican III preceded her in death.



Visitation for Mrs. Mary Irene Gormican will be on Tuesday, September 20, 2005, from 9:30 to 11 am at St. Joseph's Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am at the church. The Rev. Edward Sippel will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be directed to the Gormican Fund at St. Mary's Springs High School.
