Mary J. Basler, 65, of Eldorado, passed away with her family at her side on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Hospice Home of Hope. She was born August 25, 1950 in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Frederick and Helen Bennett Dahlke. Mary graduated from Rosendale High School in 1968 and received her Bachelor’s Degree from UW Oshkosh in 1972. On July 7, 1973 she married Robert C. Basler at St. John’s Catholic Church in Woodhull. Mary touched many lives as a beloved teacher in the Mayville and Rosendale/Brandon School Districts until her retirement in 2005. She was a member of Holy Family Parish and was very strong in her faith. Mary was very involved in the Student Exchange Program and hosted several students through the years. She enjoyed going up north, deer hunting, traveling, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. We were blessed to have spent extra time with Mary as she was first diagnosed with cancer over 20 years ago.
She is survived by her husband, Bob; two daughters, Teresa (Shane) Schroeder of Chicago, IL and Nicole (Dan Fisher) Basler of Fond du Lac; one son, Anthony (fiancée, Jessica Wegner) Basler of Milwaukee; seven grandchildren, Augustus, Francesca, and Vivienne Fisher, Tyler, Landon, and Peyton Basler, and Harrison Schroeder. She is also survived by her mother, Helen Dahlke of Waupun; mother-in-law, Natalie Basler of Rosendale; many dear friends who were like sisters; brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Frederick Dahlke; one sister, Linda Dahlke; and father-in-law, Ralph Basler.
The visitation will be held from 3:00 – 7:00 pm on Monday, March 28, 2016 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again on Tuesday from 9:00 – 10:30 am at church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Sacred Heart Church, Holy Family Parish, 678 Western Avenue, Fond du Lac with Rev. Bob Fictum officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Eldorado.
