Mary Jo (Josie) Scharf

Mary Jo (Josie) Scharf of Tampa Bay, Florida, died in Albuquerque, NM, January 29, 2012 surrounded by friends and her sister, Sylvia. Mary Jo was born in Fond du Lac on December 28, 1943 the daughter of Sylvester and Virginia Landreman Scharf. She was a graduate of St. Patrick's Grade school, a l962 graduate of Lowell P. Goodrich High School and attended UW-Stevens Point.Mary Jo was crowned Miss Fond du Lac in 1964 and enjoyed all the events that went along with the title. She held numerous careers throughout her lifetime. Mary Jo was a flight attendant for United Airlines, was a graduate of the Art Institute in Philadelphia where she worked for Peter Max, spent a number of years managing several restaurants, earned her brokerage certificate and worked for a brokerage firm in Tampa. Lastly, she worked in the home health care field where she made many good friends. Mary Jo is survived by her mother, Virginia Scharf, Fond du Lac; her siblings: Sylvia Scharf, Pomona, CA; Judith and her husband, Michael Halfman of Horicon; Diane Scharf and her husband, Guy Billard of Chantilly, VA; Jeff Scharf and his wife Kathryn of Fond du Lac; her longtime friends Terry Wood, Dean Squibb, and Tracy Wright.She is also survived by her nephews and niece who were so special to her. Nick Halfman and wife Brenda of Seymour; Alex Halfman of Evergreen, CO; Eric Halfman and wife Cara of Beaver Dam; Gregg Scharf of La Crosse; Ben Scharf and wife Stephanie of Tampa, FL; and Kirstin Scharf Billard of Chantilly, VA.She is further survived by her great nephews and nieces who loved to draw pictures for her: Zachary, Jacob, Katherine Halfman, Seymour; Gracie and Ashton Halfman, Beaver Dam; Lucian Scharf, La Crosse, and Corey Klinger and Lyla Scharf, Tampa, Fl.Mary Jo was preceded in death by her father, Sylvester Scharf, her brother Thomas, maternal and paternal grandparents, aunts, uncles, and many cousins.



Friends may call Friday, March 2, 2012 from 4 to 7 PM at the Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A prayer vigil will begin at 7 PM.Visitation will be held Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Sons of Zebedee Ss James & John W5882 Church Road, Byron from 10:00 to 10:30 AM. Mass follows at 10:30 AM. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Fr. Michael Peterson will preside with assistance of Deacon George Schraufnagel.Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation and/or the American Lung Association or a charity of your choice.
