Mary Josephine (Dion) Reinardy passed away February 20, 2012 following a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Mary Jo was born in Fond du Lac on June 5, 1924, the eldest of six children born to Roy and Mary (Gary) Dion. As a young woman, she worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Charles Reinardy, who was a dentist in Fond du Lac for over 50 years. She and Charles married in 1947 and had three children. When Mary Jo was widowed at age 49, she returned to school, earning accreditation as a medical records technician. She went to work at the former Henry Boyle Home for the Aged. She later earned her nursing home administrator license and worked as the assistant administrator at St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac for 15 years before her retirement. Mary Jo was active in the Fond du Lac County Dental Auxiliary, Fond du Lac County Nursing Home Administrators, St. Agnes Hospital Auxiliary volunteers, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Elks Club Widow's Group, Self-Help for Hard of Hearing People, Inc., and the Senior Center, as well as serving as a Cub Scout Den Mother, and a PTA school tutor. She also volunteered with Mobile Meals and Galloway House and cared for aging and ill family and friends. Mary Jo loved reading and was a member of the Senior Center Book Club. She was also a Certified Master Gardener. Her neighbors visited regularly to see the beautiful seasonal changes in the flower gardens she kept around her home.SURVIVORS: her loving children, Jane (Gregory) Dietz, Donald (Susan) Reinardy, and James (Michelle) Reinardy; her grandchildren Jerilyn (Ryan) O'Rourke, Megan Dietz, and Krista Reinardy, and her great-granddaughter Aislyn O'Rourke; and her sisters Grace Mills, Barbara Faris, and Kathleen (James) La Vallee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Charles J. Reinardy, DDS, her sister, Julie, her brother, Gary, her brothers in law, Frances and Darrel.
VISITATION: Friday, February 24, 2012 from 1-2 P.M. at the St. Francis Home Chapel, 33 Everett St, Fond du Lac. FUNERAL: Friday, February 24, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the St. Francis Home Chapel. Cremation has taken place. Private family interment of cremains will take place at Calvary Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family requests, in keeping with Mary Jo's wishes and to honor her long battle with the debilitating disease, that memorials are made to the National Parkinson Foundation at 1501 NW 9th Avenue/Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136-1494, and to St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac.
