Mary M. Christensen, 68 of Brownsville, died Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at St. Mary’s Care Center in Madison. She was born on November 16, 1947 in Kenosha, a daughter of Frederick and Edith Fredericksen. She was a 1965 graduate of George Nelson Tremper H.S. in Kenosha. Mary graduated with an associate’s degree from Gateway Technical College in 1972. On February 16, 1974, she married Darell Christensen at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church in Kenosha. He preceded her in death on January 9, 2001.
Mary was a loving wife and mother, and together with Darell, managed their family farm in Brownsville. She devoted herself to God while also serving at Christian Life Fellowship in Mayville as the church secretary from 2003 until 2014. Mary thoroughly enjoyed board games, Scrabble and crossword puzzles.
Surviving are two daughters; Heather (Michael) Lamb of Baltimore, Maryland and Heidi Christensen of Madison; 1 grandson, Jackson Lamb of Baltimore; 2 brothers, James (Linda) Fredericksen and Thomas (Cindy) Fredericksen, all of Kenosha; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Darell; and her parents, Frederick and Edith.
Visitation for Mary will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016 from 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM at Christian Life Fellowship, 113 N Clark St. in Mayville. The funeral service will begin at 4:00 PM with Pastor David Koch officiating. Burial will be held Sunday, July 31, 2016 at 2:00 PM in Prairie Mound Cemetery, Oregon, Wis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and/or the Billy Graham Evangelistic Society.
