Melvin "Butch" Pipping, age 80, of Fond du Lac, peacefully passed away at St. Agnes Hospital on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, surrounded by his family. Melvin was born September 9,1932 in the Town of Forest, the son of Herman and Leona (Loehr) Pipping. He attended Winnebago Lutheran Academy in Fond du Lac. Mel proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956 during the Korean War. On May 4, 1957 Mel married Gloria Kuslits at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. He worked for Wisconsin Bell for over 35 years, and then worked for Steve's Delivery until retirement. Melvin was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, and enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling, boating, golfing, and playing cards with his friends.He is survived by his wife, Gloria; two daughters, Deborah (Chris) Knueppel of Fond du Lac; Denise (George) Fisher of Fond du Lac; two sons, Alan (Penny) Pipping of Ripon; Andy (Darcey) Pipping of Fountain Hills, AZ. He is further survived by 14 grandchildren; Amanda (Chris) Vandeberg of Berlin, Jamie Carey of Fond du Lac, Kim Finn of Fond du Lac, Matthew (Autumn) Fisher, Jodi (Justin) Paulson, Brian (Ashley) Fisher, Michael Fisher, Kelli Fisher (Ben Wempner) all of Fond du Lac, Jacob Pipping (Kara Stump) of Fond du Lac, Courtney Pipping (Marcus Grier), Casey Pipping, Jeremy Pipping all of Ripon, Quinn Schoeneberg (Jessica Straub) of Fond du Lac and Ian Schoeneberg of Culver City, CA., and seven great grandchildren. He is further survived by two sisters, Marcella Gellings of Fond du Lac; Doris Kaiser of Fond du Lac, two sister-in-laws, Pat (Darryl) Judson of Marco Island, FL, and Linda (Ray) MacDonald of Naples, FL. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.He is preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law.
Visitation for Melvin will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013 from 10am-noon at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 1600 S. Main Street, Fond du Lac. Funeral services for Melvin will be held on Friday, March 15 immediately following the visitation. Pastor Zuberbier will officiate. Cremation will follow the traditional services. Private burial services will take place at Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.Memorials may be directed to St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
