Melvin (Mel) E. Meyer, age 70, of Fond du Lac was united in heaven with his beloved wife, Mary on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at St. Agnes Hospital. He was also greeted by his two special angels, Brenda Lee and Johnny, who he sadly missed since their departure from this earth. Mel was born on April 7, 1938 in the Town of St. Anna the son of Raymond and Marie Thome Mayer. Mel was united in marriage to Mary H. Boudry on August 9, 1969 at St. Patrick's Church with the Reverend Edward Sippel officiating. They were happily married thirty-four years. Mel was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. Mel was owner operator of Meyer's Auto Salvage and also worked at Tecumseh Products. He loved going to auctions with his friend John Wedell. Mel was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He had one godson, Clayt Emmer, Darboy, WI. His special nephew, Jeremy Mundt was especially fond of his work ethics with his business and Mel was his mentor. Mel was an avid daily visitor to the Stretch Restaurant were he enjoyed meeting his friends, Sandy, Anna, Danny, John, Dave and many others.Mel is survived by his daughter, Diane (Mark) Opperman, Fond du Lac; three special grandchildren that he loved dearly, Trenton, Taylor and Katrina; two brother, Robert (Cathy) Mayer, Augusta, WI and Cyril Mayer, Fond du Lac; three sisters, Julie Smith, Darien, IL, Lucille Mayer, Kansas City, KS, Barb (Dale) Emmer, Malone. Further survived by a brother-in-law, Bill (Linda) Boudry, Hartford, WI and sisters-in-law, Jane (Bruce) Braun, Fond du Lac, Lori Mundt, Fond du Lac and Renee Boudry, Fond du Lac, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Mel was preceded in death by his wife, Mary on March 5, 2004, an infant daughter Brenda Lee on February 20, 1972 and a son Johnny on July 31, 1981, mother and father Raymond and Marie Thome Mayer, a sister, Bernice Gonzalez, a brother-in-law, Jerry Cardinal and sister-in-law, Arlene Cardinal.



VISITATION: Wednesday, November 12, 2008 from 4-8 P.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. FUNERAL: Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and 11:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Parish-St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services. Trier-Puddy American Legion Post #75 will conduct military graveside services."Special thanks to Mark Barber for administrating CPR, the Fond du Lac County Sheriffs Department and Mount Calvary Ambulance Department for assisting our loved one, in his time of need."Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
