Melvin R. Totzke, 83, formerly of 390 Evergreen Avenue, Fond du Lac, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Fond du Lac Lutheran Home. He was born June 27, 1925 in Fond du Lac, the son of Paul and Mary Armstrong Totzke. On May 2, 1953 he married Evelyn I. Saltzwadel Schroeder in Fond du Lac. Melvin worked for Bestt Rollr retiring in 1990. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. He enjoyed playing cards, watching sports, traveling, spending time with family and loved pecan pie.SURVIVORS: his wife of 55 years, Evelyn; step children, Ken Schroeder, Madison, WI, Ione Schroeder, Fond du Lac, Geraldine (Adrian) Lashock, Princeton, WI, Betty Schroeder, Fond du Lac, Larry Schroeder, Fond du Lac; nine step grandchildren, Dawn Schroeder, Gail (special friend, Pat) Schroeder, Brian (special friend, Gail) Schroeder, Karla (Gregory) Francken, Jeffrey Lashock, Julie (Steve) Sondalle, Randy (Lida) Lashock, LuAnn (Bruce) Livingston, Kevin (special friend, Amy) Lashock; 17 step great-grandchildren; one brother, Eugene (Janet) Totzke, Hilbert, WI. He is further survived by a nephew, Dennis (Lorie) Totzke; two nieces, Diane (Patrick) McClone, Darlene (Richard) Buechel; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Stephany, Fond du Lac, Agnes (Arlin) Leonhardt, Fond du Lac, Lillian Saltzwadel, North Fond du Lac; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, uncle and aunt, Phil (Ann) Halfmann, a daughter-in-law, Noreen Schroeder.



VISITATION: will be held from 4 "“ 8 PM on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again on Wednesday from 9 "“ 10 AM at church. The funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Fred Toppe officiating. Cremation will follow the traditional services with inurnment at Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.A memorial will be established in Melvin's name. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home for the exceptional care given to Melvin.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
