Merlyn E. Krueger, 82, of 187 Gilson Avenue, Oakfield, died Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the Hospice Home of Hope. He was born October 6, 1929 in Oakfield, the son of Arthur and Alice Boelk Krueger. On October 21, 1951 he married Joyce H. Michaels at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Oakfield. Joyce preceded him in death on October 3, 1998. He was a graduate of Oakfield High School Class of 1947. Merlyn was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army. He was employed with General Telephone and later worked for Friday Canning Company in Oakfield retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church, and the Oakfield VFW Post 8092. Merlyn was a member of the Village of Oakfield Fire Department for 30 years. He never missed any of the Oakfield Oak's girls softball team games and was awarded "Number 1 Fan". He was an avid Badger and Packer fan.SURVIVORS: Merlyn is survived by three children, Mark "Meach" Krueger, Sheyenne, ND, Joanne (Fred) Nitz, Stone Lake, WI, William "Bill" (special friend, Kathy) Krueger, Oakfield; five grandchildren, Tracy (Sam) Moore, Corey (Shannon) Nitz, Jeremy Nitz, Eric (Lindsay) Krueger, Katie (fiancé, John Patt) Krueger; seven great-grandchildren, Keegan and Brayden Moore, Drake and Scarlett Nitz, Olivia, Owen and Natalie Krueger and also a new great-grandchild due in February 2013. Merlyn is further survived by a sister-in-law, Delores Krueger, Fond du Lac; one brother-in-law, Edward (Mary) Michaels, Brownsville; two sisters-in-law, Mary Etta (Roger) Shady, Oakfield and Jean (Robert) Hewitt, Jump River, WI; cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. Merlyn was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Audrey; brother, Rodney; daughter-in-law Helen Krueger; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Robert and Judith Redman.
VISITATION: Friends may call on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 from 3-8 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of services.FUNERAL: Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oakfield with Reverend Christopher Goelzer officiating.
