Michael A. Pittler, 67 of Fond du Lac, was taken into God's arms on Monday, July 25, 2011 with his family by his side at St. Agnes Hospital. He was born November 23, 1943 in Fond du Lac, the son of Stevan and Gertrude Steinbarth Pittler. Michael met his loving wife, Joyce A. Reitz at 10 years of age and they married July 25, 1964 at Hope Lutheran Church. He worked for G & L, Westra Construction, Laurer's and retired in 2002 from the Fond du Lac County Highway Department. Michael was a member of Hope Lutheran Church. His life was filled with many remarkable memories. He was a deputy sheriff, 4-H leader, Webelos leader for his son, ran Fishing Lines on Lake Winnebago, was a bartender, chef and treasured being a volunteer fireman for Lamartine for many years. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. Michael loved the outdoors with his family, fishing and hunting and was planning on his first bear hunt this year. He was also a member of Whitetails and Green Wings for many years and proudly talked of his high school years in football with everyone.SURVIVORS: his wife of 47 years, Joyce; daughter, Dawn Smet and fiancé, John Hoekstra; son, Mike Pittler; daughter, JoAnn Pittler and fiancé, Jimmy Peterson; his grandchildren, Angel and Andrew Nimmer, Heather and Peter Grimes, Casey Smet, Tristan Forsberg, Kimberly Peterson, Jacob Peterson, Jonathan Peterson and Steven Peterson; great grandchildren, Xander, Aleeya and Celes; his siblings, Mary Jean, Wilfred Zeamer and Eleanor Kleinschmidt; many nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Stevan; sister, Deloris; and two infant brothers.
VISITATION: will be from 4 "“ 7 PM on Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and again on Thursday from 10 "“ 11 AM at church. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Hope Lutheran Church, with Rev. Steven Huff officiating.
