Michael B Mullenix, 61, of W4470 Mary Hill Park Dr, Fond du Lac, died Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Hospice Home of Hope after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.He was born October 3, 1947, a son of Glenn & Melba (Corley) Mullenix, in Port Arthur, Texas. At age 4 the family moved to Barnwell, South Carolina where he attended and graduated from Barnwell High School in 1965. He married Dianne Graham in 1967. He entered the Air Force for 4 years, serving in Vietnam. Returning to the states, he worked for a short time at E.I. Du Pont in Augusta, GA and then joined the Fond du Lac City Police Department where he worked his way through the ranks and retired at Captain of Patrol in 2001 after 31 years of service. They had two sons, Shaun and Cale, who truly were the greatest joys of his life. He graduated from UW Oshkosh with a degree in Criminal Justice in June 1976. He also attended Northwestern University for a year pursuing management courses related to police work. After retirement, Mike went to work for Michels' Corporation (Brownsville, WI) until his death. He loved traveling all over and seeing the Country. Mike was an avid reader, hunter and fisherman. He loved to golf and play cards. He was a member of South Hills Country Club.Mike will be sadly missed by his sons, Shaun (Kim) Mullenix Fond du Lac, Cale Mullenix Fond du Lac, a sister Glenda Mullenix, Dallas Texas, a sister-in-law Linda Ann Mullenixn, Nederland Texas, brother-in-law John (Carol) Graham Fond du Lac, mother-in-law Lillian Graham Fond du Lac, two grandchildren, Brett & Kirsten Stuck and many cousins, nephews, nieces and great friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn, his mother, Melba, a brother, Glenn, a brother, Larry, an infant son, Michael and his father-in-law, Chester Graham.
Visitation will be held from 11am to 3pm on Saturday February 21, 2009 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 3pm at the funeral home. The Rev. Paul Pfeffer will officiate. Cremation has taken place.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mike's name to the Cops for Kids Foundation.Uecker-Witt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
