Michael D. French entered Hole 19 on July 12, 2017 at the age of 76. He was born to Donald and Phyllis French on June 24, 1941. Michael was a 1962 graduate of UW-Oshkosh. He married Carmen Torres on March 3, 1962. He went on to teach at Waupun, Wausaukee, and MPTI and then went on to open Frenches Cornerstone Tavern in North Fond du Lac for twelve years. He was a past President of the Businessman’s Association as well as coaching little league baseball. He went back to get his Master’s Degree from UW-Madison in 1987 and became a Principal for Wauzeka and DeSoto. After retirement he enjoyed golfing, bridge, liar’s dice with Sara, cribbage, and watching the Packers and Brewers. He was proud to be a master bridge player and to work as a secretary for numerous golf leagues at Rolling Meadows.
He is survived by the love of his life, Carmen; his children, Michelle (Kurt) Winget, Anne (Elliott) Lisowe, Paul French, and Josef (Christina Atkins) French; grandchildren, Josh, Jason, Jennifer, Emily, David, Brock, Sydni, and Gabriella; his brothers, Jeff, Dan, and Charlie (Robyn); his sister, Julie Sullivan; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two daughters, Laura and Lisa.
Visitation will take place on Monday, July 17, 2017 from 9:00 AM until 12:45 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. A celebration of life service will be held at the funeral home following the visitation at 12:45 PM. Cremation has taken place and burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
