Michael David O'Connor

Michael David O'Connor, 43, of North Fond du Lac, died Thursday, June 27, 2013, at his residence. He was born February 4, 1970, in Fond du Lac, the son of Gerald and Janice Hall O'Connor. He attended St. Louis and St. Patrick's school and graduated from St. Mary's Springs Academy in 1988. He immediately enlisted in the US Army receiving his basic training at Fort Dix, NJ, his advanced individual training at Fort Eustis, VA, and was later assigned to Hawaii as a helicopter mechanic on Cobra gunships during Desert Storm I. After his discharge, he was employed by the State of Wisconsin as a Correctional Officer at Kettle Moraine Correctional Institution until May 31st of this year. Surviving are his two sons, Tyler and Scott O'Connor of North Fond du Lac, his parents, Gerald "Jerry' and Janice of Fond du Lac, a sister, Pamela (Randy) Steinberg and their children, Adam and Allison Steinberg of Oak Creek, WI, and two brothers, Steven (Amy) O'Connor of Sheboygan, and Daniel O'Connor, of Fond du Lac. He is further survived by uncles, an aunt, cousins, and his former wife, Lynn Oliver of Rosendale. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lawrence O'Connor and Margaret Doyle, maternal grandparents, Frank and Lorraine (Kellar) Hall, and three aunts, Sue Hall, Marion Horton, and Patricia Balthazor.



Visitation for Michael David O'Connor will be on Monday, July 1, 2013, from 4 to 8 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, and again on Tuesday, July 2nd, from 10 to 11 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 678 Western Avenue, Fond du Lac. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Tuesday, the 2nd. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations/memorials be directed to the family for Michael's children's education.
